The Home Missionary Board of God’s Missionary Church hosted its fourth annual Christmas Banquet on Monday evening, December 9, 2019, at the Conference Headquarters in Penns Creek. Sixty-seven supporters enthusiastically participated. The meal was catered by T & C Catering. The fellowship was infectious and the food was delicious. A special “Thank-you” to all those who donated pies for the festive occasion.

The highlight of the evening was the God’s Missionary Church History Quiz. The home missionary pastors squared off against one another with Pastor Jeff Stratton walking away with the first-place prize (a bronze statue of General William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army). Pastor Barry Sweitzer carried off the second-place prize (a bust of Bishop Francis Asbury, first Bishop of American Methodism). Special music was provided by the Bennett Trio (Cedric, Kaylee, & Alfred Bennett). They made an outstanding musical contribution to the event. We enjoyed the annual reports by each of the pastors and an update from Brother Rodney Keister on the work of Evangelism Mission.

These men are on the front lines of spiritual warfare. We stand with them through prayer and financial support. As they make great sacrifices for the king and the kingdom may we assist them as God would lead us in offerings and intercession.

I want to personally “Thank” the Pastors of God’s Missionary Church and the generous congregations they Shepherd. In 2015, $38,738.57 was given in support of this Church Planting ministry. In 2016, $51,702.76 was collected by our joint efforts. In 2017, $55,870.08 was donated to the business of expanding our borders. And in 2018, $73,648.90 was entrusted to our stewardship. There are several conclusions that may be drawn from this data:

  1. God’s Missionary people are generously missions-minded!
  2. The Home Missionary Department is consistently growing!
  3. God is blessing our vision and labors!

Over the past four years the Home Missions Department has raised $219,960.32. From 2105 to 2018 there was a substantial increase in giving ($34,910.33 to be very specific).  That is more than a 90 percent increase. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

My 2020 Faith Challenge to the reader is this: would you prayerfully join me in believing God to help us raise $100,000 by May 31, 2020?

Our pastors and their associates are faithfully living out their callings. At the close of the Christmas Banquet, I challenged them to continue to embody the ministry philosophy echoed in the well-known words of famous Christian missionary C. T. Studd:

Some want to live within the sound of church or chapel bell;
I want to run a rescue shop within a yard of hell!

There are untold sacrifices being made every week by the courageous men and women who have answered the call to serve in our Home Missions churches and ministries. I salute these heroes of the cross who are making a difference everywhere they go. May we hold the ropes and bear on the oars as they live in the trenches!

Would you prayerfully consider a year-end donation to the work of God’s Missionary Church Department of Home Missions? Perhaps your Sunday School class, Youth Department, Women’s Ministry, or family would shoulder the vision with us in the New Year. Perhaps you would like to adopt a pastoral family and commit to their financial support and pledge your intercession. I welcome your contact. Together we will proclaim the message of full salvation in 2020!
