God’s Missionary Church has a rich heritage in the state of Florida! Beginning in 1966 when God called Rev. Kenneth Walter to Kissimmee, God has been faithful in the planting of churches throughout central Florida, as well as missions in Miami and Fort Myers.

To everyone who has labored for the Lord in Florida, we say “Thank you.” Eternity will reveal what God has done through you.

We are convinced that God is not done working. With 22 million souls and more being added each day, Florida is truly a field which is ready for harvest! God’s Missionary Church is committed to having a district of growing and thriving churches in Florida!

With a deep desire to see our churches grow, the General Board commissioned an assessment of the Florida District on February 29th, 2024. Over the next couple of months, dozens of interviews and meetings took place, as well as in- person visits in the district. As a result of this assessment, a Florida District Revitalization Plan was prayerfully drafted and presented on May 1, 2024, and the plan was approved on May 22.

While there are many intricate details to share, the key components of this plan are as follows:

1. Viewing the Florida District churches as “One Church”.

This approach fosters a sense of unity and shared purpose among the churches, enabling them to support each other more effectively.

2. Viewing all of the pastors and personnel from all of the churches as being part of one team.

This mindset shift encourages collaboration and teamwork, allowing for the sharing of resources, ideas, and best practices across the district.

3. The appointment of one Lead Pastor for all of the churches to serve with a Local Pastor at each church.

Having a Lead Pastor overseeing all churches provides centralized leadership and direction while still allowing for the unique character and needs of each congregation to be addressed by their Local Pastor.

4. Weekly (online) team meetings, monthly in-person meetings, and quarterly visits from the conference.

Maintaining consistent communication and connection through both online and in-person meetings and visits helps to ensure encouragement, accountability, and ongoing support.

5. The recruitment of a variety of individuals and skillsets to help in the churches (beyond pastors).

Example: Musicians, teachers, children’s evangelists, Sunday School teachers, greeters, maintenance volunteers, and administrative help are all needed on a short-term and long- term basis.

6. Investment in infrastructure repair in the various churches.

Ensuring that the physical facilities of the churches are presentable and well-maintained creates a welcoming environment for both current members and potential newcomers, enhancing overall ministry effectiveness.

7. The raising of funds to assist these churches in the revitalization process.

God is actively working in the Florida District! Some families have already committed to being part of this team, while others are prayerfully considering it! Updates to our entire conference will be made soon and on a consistent basis. We share this not only for information but, more importantly, for your sincere prayers. God is building his church!
